Seminar 2025: Call for Teachers

Calgary, Alberta, is where you’ll want to be in May 2025! The Calgary Guild of Needle and Fibre Arts is so excited to be hosting Seminar 2025: Stitching Under the Arch from May 13 to 18, 2025.

Our theme is meant to evoke the Chinook Arch of clouds, creating a backdrop to our spectacular mountains, trees, and city views! But it is also in reference to all the cultures and stitching styles contained under the embroidery arch!

We were inspired by the way people connected with embroidery and crafts during the pandemic. They used the time to explore their passions, some returned to embroidery they had put aside when life was too busy or used it to connect with previous generations who had also weathered hard times. Social media and Zoom brought embroiderers together during the pandemic. When you learn a new embroidery technique you see all the interconnectedness of the world and its peoples. Stitchers gain a richer understanding of the craft when they see how the styles have evolved over time with the influences of new materials and designers from around the world.

We invite you to discover your place under the inclusive arch of embroidery where all are welcome and celebrated!

All teachers are encouraged to submit class proposals to the 2025 Seminar Committee via our contact us page. To make sure we get your email, please select “2025 Seminar: Stitching Under the Arch” in the subject line of the email. The deadline is September 30, 2023.
