ART DECO ACCESSORIES PART 2

This project introduces the use of interlock canvas for construction – presented in two parts. Part 2 completes the set with a collapsible Ort box. The stitches provide a deep dive into diagonal stitches and the problems they can create in distortion and compensation with some suggestions for mitigation. The stitch models are completed in a classic Art Deco colour scheme of black, red and silver, with the addition of three values of grey. All four sides of the Ort box are designed differently. Detailed finishing instructions will be included.

Stitches: Smyrna, tent, Scotch, Mosaic, Cashmere, Nobuko, Rice, Basketweave, Kalem, Gobelin, Fern, Beaty, Point de Tresse, Van Dyke, Helen’s Lace, Corduroy, Rhodes, Jacquard, Byzantine, Milanese, Oriental, Caswell and Cross Stitches

Design: Ort box – 4 sides, each 5″ x 5″

Supplies:  18 count Interlock canvas or Congress cloth, variety of threads, such as #5 and #8 perle cotton, floss, #4, #8 and #12 Kreinik braids
