This lovely design combines several elements of Deerfield. This design features the following stitches:
buttonhole, buttonhole wheels, chain, snail’s trail (coral knots), darning, feather, fly, French knots, New England laid stitch (Roumanian), outline or stem, herringbone, Deerfield herringbone, cross-stitch, latticework, satin stitch, spike stitch, and speckling. This will make a great chapter course.
Size of Design: 9½” x 14¼” approximately
Ground Fabric: 1 piece of plain weave linen (white, ecru or light beige) for surface stitching or linen twill, cut 15″ x 18″ (38cm x 45cm)
Thread: Appleton’s crewel wool – 1 skein of lightest blue value; 2 skeins of a medium and dark value and 1 skein of white or saffron (or colours of your choice – see notes)
Other supplies: Stretcher bars – 15″ x 18″; tacks or staples
Skill level: Intermediate/Beginner
