To Mr Stephens Janury 15 1857
I Cannot allow the present opportunity pass without expressing my sincere regret for the rather
sudden decease of your son Alexandr Robert Stephens, one of the most intelligent and apt learners
in the Common School invariabley haed of his class, and very diligent in acquering information, In
fact for his age, he had not a Superior, if an equal in the school, Had it pleased Providence to have
spared him, I believe he would have been an ornament to his parents, as he gave promise of having
an intellect for above those of his own age 6 years and 5 month That he is now in a higher sphere of
glory than it is possible he could never attain on this Earth, even had believed must at least Prove A
Pleasing Consideration to both his Father and Mother
