EAC/ACB member Marie-Renée Otis has a solo exhibition on now and running until June 9. The exhibition, titled Pistes d’éternité, Marie-Renée Otis, Broderie d’art, is being held at Musée des cultures du monde, in Nicolet, near Drummondville, Québec.
Constant research and a daring technical path summarize Marie-Renée Otis’s embroidery career. In her handmade embroidery, she renews the tapestry technique by integrating various materials: feathers, beads, jewellery, metal threads, and elements from several countries.
The abundance of rare materials, sumptuous fabrics, magnificent gold threads, and pearls make them art embroideries with rich textures and a very personal imagination where women, spiritual beings, elements of nature and the majestic landscapes of Charlevoix with its mountains and river play an essential role.
Marie-Renée Otis’s ambition, through her works, is to reflect on current creation and its challenges of combining tradition and modernity, share her knowledge through conferences and individual or group exhibitions, and, in her own way, participate in the beauty of the world.
This exhibition is happening in conjunction with the release of Marie-Renée’s new book, Abundance and Gratitude: Art embroidery, available in French and English editions.
