This design features the following stitches: buttonhole, buttonhole wheels, chain, snail’s trail (coral knots), darning, feather, fly, French knots, New England laid stitch (Roumanian), outline or stem, herringbone, Deerfield herringbone, cross-stitch, latticework, satin stitch, spike stitch, and speckling.  This will make a great chapter course.

Size of Design:  6¾” x 10¼” approximately

Ground Fabric:  1 piece of plain weave linen for surface stitching or linen twill, cut 12″ x 15″

Thread:  Appleton’s crewel wool – 1 skein of 3 values of a blue and 1 skein of white or saffron (or colours of your choice – see notes)

Other supplies:  Stretcher bars – 12″ x 15″; tacks or staples

Skill level:  Intermediate/Beginner

Text:  The text is 40 pages and is available electronically (PDF) or hardcopy (mailed)

Time:  4 months

Supplies to purchase:  Approximately $13 for thread and $13 for plain weave linen or $17 for linen twill
