Technique Study Program: Course by Connie Wilks; revised by Carolyn Mitchell & Colleen Darling
This course is designed to provide instruction in intermediate skill levels of Hardanger embroidery. You will learn techniques for designing Hardanger, the use of colour, planning material requirements, graphing projects, creative use of traditional and contemporary materials and stitch patterns, stitching and finishing projects, as well as some historical research for this type of embroidery. The final major project is designed and stitched by you.
Prerequisite: Basic Counted Thread Course or equivalent from other recognized organization or institution, or as noted. Or, you may submit a minimum of three detailed slides or pictures of different pieces of your work in Hardanger, plus one unmounted piece showing a variety of stitches. The Education Director, in consultation with the Education Committee, will consider your application based on your submission.
