PROJECT BY JANICE ROUTLEY

INTERMEDIATE || METAL THREAD

This is a previously offered project in which the design is adapted from the metal thread reticule found in the EAC/ACB Heritage Collection. You will learn how to mount fabric and to transfer the design along with shading using couched threads, the use and application of padding and a variety of metal threads. Release your creativity by changing the design or finishing ideas with the suggested alternatives.  The design can be used as a purse flap or framed.

Design Area: 4.5 x 5.75 inches (11.43 x 14.6 cm)

Supplies: Lightweight ground fabric (silk), lining for purse, stretcher bars 10″ x 12″ (25 x 30 cm), felt padding, kid leather, #5 Japan gold, #10 sharp & #24 Chenille needles, various metal threads and spangles

Time: 4 months
