Description
Immerse yourself in the centuries-old Japanese art of Yubinuki
Originating in the Kaga Province during the Edo period (1603-1868), yubinuki 指貫(meaning “thimble”) were made by kimono tailors using leftover materials. They transformed humble scraps of paper, fabric, and silk thread into exquisitely ornate ring thimbles, that were not only beautiful, but useful to their craft.
In this course, you will learn to decipher Yubinuki patterns and develop your skills on larger rings by creating a beautiful pincushion and a tray, ready to hold your embroidery essentials. With the basics acquired, you will then be ready to fashion your own thimble-size masterpiece!
Whether you’re an embroidery aficionado or simply captivated by Japanese textile traditions, join us to weave history, sustainability, and beauty into every stitch.
