This course is designed to give instruction to the beginning canvaswork stitcher in the following: learning the basic preparation for canvaswork stitching and the basic elements of the five main categories of canvaswork; learning a wide variety of stitches in the families of straight, diagonal, cross, tied, Florentine and tufted stitches; learning graphing skills; developing skills in colour and design; learning about suitable materials to use in canvaswork; and learning techniques of blocking and finishing this type of embroidery.

Description

This 6-lesson course over 12 months is designed to give instruction to the beginning canvaswork stitcher in the following: learning the basic preparation for canvaswork stitching and the basic elements of the five main categories of canvaswork; learning a wide variety of stitches in the families of straight, diagonal, cross, tied, Florentine and tufted stitches; learning graphing skills; developing skills in colour and design; learning about suitable materials to use in canvaswork; and learning techniques of blocking and finishing this type of embroidery.

At the end of each lesson, you will provide photographs of all your work to your counsellor via email or a file-sharing service (such as Dropbox or Google Drive). Your counsellor will assess your work and provide feedback to help you improve.

No research is required for this introductory-level course. You are sampling some of the stitches involved in this technique while you work on a small project.

  • If you withdraw from this course, no refunds will be issued. If you wish, you may request the remaining lessons; however, no assessments will be provided.
