These enticing little “smalls” will lead you through the first steps of blackwork. Learn how a simple design grows and expands. Worked in black or dark floss with metallic highlights on 25-count white or antique white Lugana. Detailed finishing instructions for each design are provided; a sewing machine is an asset. Create a pin cannoli roll, scissor keep, scissor fob, needle keep, and a pouch to store your smalls for safekeeping.

Description

The stitches for this project include: double running (Holbein), straight, straight cross-stitch variation, and buttonhole for finishing; optional stitches are ladder stitch and chain stitch.

Supplies:  25-count white or antique white Lugana, cut 10″ x 55″ (25 x 138 cm), DMC floss black, DMC Diamant gold or Kreinik #4 braid, optional #12 pearl cotton – black or #712. (Approximately $30 CAD for minimum supplies. )
