This sweet small pillow design introducing Schwalm can be used as a pin cushion or placed beside your dresser mirror to hold your beautiful brooches. This gorgeous whitework technique is originally from the Schwalm River Valley in north central Germany and features such stitches as coral knots, buttonhole, tiny chain and filling stitches such as Marburg, waffle and rose. This will make a great guild course.
Size of Design Area: 2″ by 8″ approximately
Ground Fabric: 2 pieces cut 6″ by 12″ of 32-count coloured linen for stitching
2 pieces of material to be used for lining
Thread: #16 white coton á broder (optional #8 pearl cotton), #25 white coton á broder (optional #12 pearl cotton)
Other Supplies: Fibre fill, ribbon for a bow, #5 pearl cotton for twisted cording
Skill Level: Beginner/Intermediate (experience in a counted thread technique such as Hardanger is an asset)
