Description
This 4 lesson course, over 6 months is designed to teach basic skills of needle lace. You will create a sampler of basic fillings – net stitches/slips, which can be stitched directly onto the base fabric or removed and placed elsewhere as a separate item. A variety of shapes and thread weights will be addressed to gain knowledge of the fundamental concepts and develop an appreciation of this technique and its different applications.
At the end of each lesson, you will provide photographs of all your work to your counsellor via email or a file-sharing service (such as Dropbox or Google Drive). Your counsellor will assess your work and provide feedback to help you improve.
No research is required for this introductory-level course. You are sampling some of the stitches involved in this technique while you work on a small project.

Materials
Fabrics: 10” (25cm) square cotton twill or cotton fabric, plus 10” (25cm) lightweight iron-on interfacing if using cotton
Thread: Pearl Cotton #5, #8, #12 in your choice of colours
Tools:
● Embroidery Needle – needs a sharp point and an eye that is easy to thread Pearl #5
● Tapestry Needles – Size 22 or 24 needle for the needle lace
● Needle threader – optional
● 8” (20cm) hoop to fit sampler and final project
● Transfer pen
