Description:
Neither mounted or framed but in Mylar encasing.
Hemmed on 3 sides with a double folded hem and stitched with a thread the same colour as the fabric. 4th side, being the right side, is not hemmed and definitely is the salvage of the fabric.
Back of sampler
Only a couple of trailing threads can be seen in the motif but many in the letters. all can be seen if sampler is held up due to light colour of fabric.
Borders
Outer is a plain cross stitch with the various colours used that are in the overall sampler. No consistency in the colour usage.
Separators of the alphabet rows
Row 1 is stitched in 3 rows of cross stitch with the middle row stitched in groups of 3 with a 1 stitch space gap. The upper and lower rows are stitched over and under the gap space of the middle row.
Row 2 is stitched in 2 rows of cross stitch in groups of 2 stitches and alternating.
Row 3 is stitched in 3 rows of cross stitch in groups of 2 stitches and alternating. This row only is under the last 2 letters of the alphabet as they are on their own row. At both ends of this small separating row are what appears to be large flower buds.

Description of condition:
Fabric deterioration – Fabric is very stained and even looks singed on the bottom right corner and further up the right side.
Thread deterioration – only in small area of outer border.
