Description
Spring Tulips blends classic technique with gentle creativity. You will be working with tulle, fabric markers, fabric paint, and embroidery floss, and you will choose your own blackwork filling patterns from the curated collection provided. Each decision shapes the tulips’ curves and shadows, allowing you to build depth that feels personal and expressive. As the petals take form, the piece begins to echo a quiet garden scene, tulips swaying in a light breeze.
Size of Design Area: 8″ x 10″ (20 x 25 cm)
Fabrics and Threads: 32-count white or antique white linen, cut 28 x 41 cm (11″ x 16″); green tulle (not netting) cut 15 x 15 cm (6″ x 6″); three values of floss in the same green hue (medium light, medium and medium dark); three values of floss in the same hue for the flowers (medium light, medium and medium dark); fabric paint in the same hue as the flowers (or paint and fabric medium); sewing thread (medium blue works well). Note: Variegated threads do not work well for this project.
Supplies: Stretcher bars (one pair each of 11″ and 16″), wash-out fabric transfer marker, small paint brush, embroidery and fabric scissors
