DESCRIPTION:EAC/ACB member Marie-Renée Otis has a solo exhibition on now and running until June 9. The exhibition\, titled Pistes d’éternité\, Marie-Renée Otis\, Broderie d’art\, is being held at Musée des cultures du monde\, in Nicolet\, near Drummondville\, Québec. \n\n\n\nConstant research and a daring technical path summarize Marie-Renée Otis’s embroidery career. In her handmade embroidery\, she renews the tapestry technique by integrating various materials: feathers\, beads\, jewellery\, metal threads\, and elements from several countries. \n\n\n\nThe abundance of rare materials\, sumptuous fabrics\, magnificent gold threads\, and pearls make them art embroideries with rich textures and a very personal imagination where women\, spiritual beings\, elements of nature and the majestic landscapes of Charlevoix with its mountains and river play an essential role. \n\n\n\nMarie-Renée Otis’s ambition\, through her works\, is to reflect on current creation and its challenges of combining tradition and modernity\, share her knowledge through conferences and individual or group exhibitions\, and\, in her own way\, participate in the beauty of the world. \n\n\n\nThis exhibition is happening in conjunction with the release of Marie-Renée’s new book\, Abundance and Gratitude: Art embroidery\, available in French and English editions.

DESCRIPTION:The Cataraqui Guild of Needle Arts (CGNA) of Kingston\, Ontario\, is participating in Gananoque’s 1000 Islands History Museum’s “From Away” display until June 2024. \nOur display includes whitework\, blackwork\, canvaswork\, cross stitch\, surface embroidery and Hapsburg lace.  Several of our members also belong to the Kingston Heirloom Quilters\, who made the tulip quilt (shown from the back) behind the CGNA display you see in the photo. DESCRIPTION:The Lakeshore Creative Stitchery Guild celebrated its 50th season in 2021/2022. We marked this wonderful milestone with various events throughout the season and will cap it off with a gold-themed exhibition taking place September 17-18 at Stewart Hall\, 176 Lakeshore Road\, Pointe-Claire\, Quebec H9S 4K7. Free admission. Open 10 am to 5 pm Saturday and 1 pm to 4 pm Sunday.
