WRAPPED 3D TREES

INTERMEDIATE || SURFACE EMBROIDERY/ WRAPPING TECHNIQUES

REGISTRATION: OCTOBER 1 TO NOVEMBER 30, 2024

ONLINE PROJECT STARTS: FEBRUARY 3, 2025

Trees is a 3-dimensional, 2 layered project where a tree landscape is stitched using a wrapping technique for the tree bases. There is an open area created to allow a painted background to show through which adds to the depth of the project. All aspects are taught with the result replicating the original design. There is lots of room for self interpretation and the adding of additional aspects to the design for those so inclined, to really make this your own piece.

Design: 8” x 8” (20 x 20cm) finished size 10″ x 10″ (25 x 25cm)

Time:  Three lessons, every two weeks February 3, 17, and March 3, 2025; and extra assistance until March 31, 2025

Stitching Requirements: 12″ embroidery hoop; tapestry wool for padding; #22/24 tapestry needle; #26 embroidery needle; watercolor or acrylic paints; ½” – 1″ flat paint brush; embroidery scissors; straight pins;

Fabric and Threads: Foreground – 32 count natural linen (14″ x 14″), Background – 12″ x 6″ canvas type material, DMC floss, variegated thread for tree bark, variegated #5 Perle cotton for leaves, greens/browns for ground cover (floss, #8 Perle or Watercolours),

Option A:  Electronic delivery of instructions (22 pages and 5 videos) only – $130 CAD

A detailed supply list will be provided. Students will supply all materials, most from their stash. Finishing instructions and supplies will be discussed.
